Slick mud, rotor-deep puddles…looks like the 2016 mountain bike season is going to be a good one!

Santa Cruz Factory Racing arrived at the Fort Ord National Monument, in Seaside, CA, Sunday, for the  first round of CCCX’s cross-country series; everyone was amped and ready to do battle. A steady rain soaked the Beginner and Junior riders as they lined up to start, and racers knew the course wouldn’t be drying out any time soon. Swoopy turns and tight, oak-lined single track challenged riders to keep their tires connected and steep, loose climbs tested who could stay in the saddle and power up the inclines. Thick, dripping moss hung from the trees and soaked riders as they dropped their shoulders to make the corners, followed by ice plant and poison oak that grabbed at their wheels.
